'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the dramatic closing stages of his team's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses amid the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative shot from outside the box, and the defender quickly slammed home the rebound before racing off toward the crowd to mark the goal, with the crowd swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

This capped an extraordinary turnaround given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the latter period. In the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result secured a upcoming match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's long-range effort from about way out going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for having a go from that distance," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right wing-back after the team changed shape. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who praised the way the underdogs attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they are adept at control and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're doing well and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even seeing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and focus just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has rapidly replicated that in south Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford City, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a slightly green going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without much intensity. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has shown that growth for his team and nation, shining for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including two matches encounters against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

It has been an incredible journey for the player from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his dad, Stuart, also a central player, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

The player's single match for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they competed on an plastic turf and the arena covering was shut owing to conditions of freezing cold. "This represented a long trip and it was chilly," he says, chuckling. "The week before, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it got to the point where I believed I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

It is the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a small coach driven by team personnel, the transport team, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with a teammate, another squad member, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to interact with the lads but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on public transport after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
